Methods of Diagnosing a ConditionAn initial chiropractic exam for back pain will typically have three parts: a consultation, case history, and physical examination. Following the consultation and case history, a Chiropractic physical examination is very similar to standard examination procedures administered by all health care providers. However, chiropractors focus their examination on the structure and function of the spine and then determine specific chiropractic treatments. This separates chiropractic care from other disciplines.
Chiropractic examination may include laboratory analysis including blood work, nutritional consultation, computerized nerve testing, x-ray examination, and possibly ordering MRI, CAT Scan, or Bone Scan examinations. These will be performed in accordance with the doctor's clinical judgment.
